The EU troika in Teheran made a demarche at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. The purpose of the demarche was to deliver a sharply worded message to the Iranian authorities concerning the detention of UK embassy staff in Tehran. The EU demanded the immediate release of the one person still detained. If this does not occur, the EU will take further action.

The EU troika also condemned the arrest of a young French university teacher. The EU troika underlined that all EU Member states stood behind the French request for an immediate release.
