Media centres in Sweden

It is the ambition of the Presidency to create good working conditions for all media representatives who are on site to monitor the Swedish Presidency of the EU.

At the larger meetings, special media centres will be set up. This applies, for example, to informal ministerial meetings, EU meetings with non-EU countries, the meeting on the EU Baltic Sea Strategy and visits of the European Commission.

In close proximity to the meeting venues

At the media centre you, as a journalist, will be able to work professionally and obtain the information you need, regardless of whether you work for the press, web, TV or radio. The media centre will almost always be located in the same building as the meeting venue itself.

Stability is an important watchword. To us, this means both being able to provide a well-functioning internet capacity and clarity in the information flow.

At the media centre you can find:

Wireless networks
A number of fixed-line connections and fixed telephony
A number of ISDN connections
An internet café with a number of computers

In close proximity to the work stations there will be:

Printers, fax machines and photocopiers
Monitors where you can follow press conferences and obtain practical information about the meeting

There will also be a host broadcaster on site to provide services to broadcasting media.

Meals and relaxation

Refreshments will be available during the opening hours of the media centre. A restaurant close to the media centre will serve lunch and dinner.

A good media centre should be able to provide an opportunity for a few minutes’ relaxation. There will therefore be a lounge in the media centre, where you can have a cup of coffee, read the newspapers or meet with your colleagues.
