EU NGO Forum on Human Rights
An NGO Forum will be held jointly by the European Commission and the autumn Presidency. NGOs from a number of countries will meet experts and decision-makers at a two-day forum to discuss human rights. This year’s theme is violence against children. After the opening addresses by a number of prominent people, discussions will continue in three working groups. The conclusions from this meeting will be presented in the Working Party on Human Rights (COHOM).
The EU decided just over ten years ago that it would be beneficial for NGOs, decision-makers and experts to meet and discuss current human rights issues. The themes of previous meetings have been the new EU Guideline ‘Violence against women’ and the situation of human rights defenders.
