On 7 December the major UN Climate Change Conference starts in Copenhagen, where thousands of delegates will try to reach a new international climate agreement. The project ‘Klimat Malmö’ aims to be highly visible both in Copenhagen and in Malmö. The Swedish EU Presidency’s top priority is to take responsibility for resolving the issue of climate change.

How we act in our own lives and how we act together are both significant. The threat of climate change knows no bounds and we can turn this to our advantage. The possibility of change lies in what we do individually and what we do together. This is why the City of Malmö, Region Skåne and the Swedish Presidency of the EU are together putting on GREEN LIGHT.

GREEN LIGHT is taking place where you are and mixes discussion and reflection with unexpected experiences across the city.

We will be inviting you to Women Chopping Wood on Stortorget and Tollgate Zero at the crossroads between Södergatan and Skomakargatan. Films on the theme of the climate will be shown at Panora and Spegeln. Malmö Museums will be holding an open day with the exhibition ‘Den hållbara staden’ (The Sustainable City).  On Wednesday evening, Minister for EU Affairs Cecilia Malmström will visit Klimat Malmö's climate-friendly home and the Presidency exhibition about the EU's work on climate change on Gustav Adolfs torg. The Malmö Academy of Music will be putting on a concert in Caroli kyrka and at Form Design Center there will be a special event based on the exhibition ‘Modersmjölken’ (Mother’s Milk), just to name a few of the highlights of the programme. All this will be covered by Malmö’s ‘young reporters’, who are following the Presidency closely.

We look forward to welcoming you to two fun-filled days addressing the most important issue of our time.
