EU – India summit
On Friday, 6 November Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt chairs the EU-India summit. Fredrik Reinfeldt, representing the EU Presidency, will meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
This is the tenth EU-India summit and it takes place in the Indian capital New Delhi. Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt and Minister for Trade Ewa Björling will also take part in the visit. The President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and Commissioners Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Catherine Ashton.
Issues on the agenda include climate change, the global financial and economic crisis, discussions on relations between the EU and India, including trade, and a number of regional issues.
In connection with the summit, there will also be bilateral talks between Sweden and India. During his visit to India, Fredrik Reinfeldt’s preliminary schedule includes meetings with Sonia Gandhi, leader of the opposition Lal Krishna Advani, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, recipient of the Stockholm Water Prize 2009.

14.15 Speech by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt followed by discussions with students at the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

15.45 Meeting between Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari.
18.00 Bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

09.30 Laying of wreaths at Raj Ghat.
10.15 Summit opens.

14.45 Meeting with Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, recipient of the Stockholm Water Prize 2009 and visit to school for outcast children.
18.30 Meeting between President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and President of the Commission José Manuel Barroso, among others.
