Towards EU Global Action against Trafficking in Human Beings
The conference addressed the development of EU efforts to combat trafficking in human beings, focusing on relations and cooperation with countries of origin for trafficking in human beings and countries through which this trafficking passes. The conference was intended for relevant actors in the area, such as international organisations, EU institutions, Russia and neighbouring countries along the EU’s eastern border, the countries of the Western Balkans, the USA and Canada.

The conference is an integral of the Presidency priority on trafficking in human beings which will address the EU external dimension and include work towards an action-oriented paper. The conference has been given the title ”Towards EU Global Action against Trafficking in Human Beings”. The main objectives are:
- to strengthen the EU policy ands action against trafficking in a the external dimension where action previously has not been taken comprehensively,
- to contribute to development of the EU’s increasingly important partnerships with third countries and in that context a particular challenge, i.e. trafficking,
- to consult with all concerned stakeholders in view of the Action Oriented Paper,
- to collect and collate best practices and concrete proposals for action against trafficking in partnership between the ERU and third countries.
